Were you using a fresh hold cycle available on some models. Make sure the selector knob is lined up with a cycle selection and the start button has been pushed. To bypass the lid switch disconnect it from the wire harness then put a link in on the timer side of the harness between the 2 gray wires these are the outside wires on the harness.
